Regardless of whether we are dealing with Bargielska the poet or Bargielska the writer of prose, we always encounter language that is sensual, expressive, and “particular.” Black humour and the grotesque are also characteristic of her writing, and her most frequent topic is the carnality and sexuality of women, and the conjunction of different orders: the religious, the patriarchal, and that of the middle class.

Justyna Bargielska | Poet, writer of prose. The 2003 volume “Dating sessions” was her debut. She then published “China Shipping” and “Dwa fiaty,” for which she received the Gdynia Literary Prize 2010. She won the Rainer Maria Rilke Poetry Competition 2001, and a special award at the 2002 Jacek Bierezin Competition. In 2010 published her first book of prose, “Obsoletki,” which won her the 2001 Gdynia Literary Prize. In 2012 published a volume of poetry “Bach for my baby,” which was nominated for the awards of: Szymborska, Gryfia, Silesius, and Nike (the book made it to the final stage). In 2013 she published her novel “Małe lisy,” which was nominated for the Nike and to the Warsaw Literary Award.
