HISTORY UNCENSORED – MAŁGORZATA SZEJNERT
Małgorzata Szejnert, taking up the topic of small hopes and big disappointments, braids the micro-scale history into History, the one written with a capital letter. In her last book “My, właściciele Teksasu” she presents the people who did not abandon their endeavours even if the circumstances were far from favourable, and draws a multidimensional panorama of the Polish People’s Republic in inconspicuous events. “Śród żywych duchów,” in contrast, shows the drama of Polish war heroes. The author collects stories, reveals the methods of eluding censorship and to gain information in the era of fear and distrust, and by connecting the tale of the times of terror and of late 80s she creates an extraordinary chronicle of the democratic breakthrough in Poland.
